Have you heard the news? We’re hosting a fall fair on Thanksgiving weekend!

Do you bake? Make delicious jams and jellies? If you create wonderful foods, preserves, tasty things and crafts, and would like to sell your goodies, please contact us to reserve a table for only $20.

We may not have had a harvest this year in the greenhouse, but we can still celebrate this bountiful season. Come and check out all the repairs we’ve made to the greenhouse this year. We’ll see you on Saturday, October 8!

Happy Organic Week from Iqaluit!

The Iqaluit Community Greenhouse Society, in partnership with the Iqaluit Food Centre and the Iqaluit Youth Centre, co-hosted an organic food night at the Youth Centre. With youth, staff, and volunteers, we cooked a delicious meal that had local, and organic ingredients. On the menu: caribou stir-fry with greens grown at the Youth Centre, and homemade sprouts, and fresh fruit fondue with fruit local to Ontario and Quebec. This dinner was super fun because we all got to cook together. We also tried new produce, like kale and ground cherries. Check out the photo menu of our night!

Come out to the Storehouse Tuesday at 7:30 to support the greenhouse! Enjoy some great trivia and have a drink and dinner while you’re at it. See you there!

The Iqaluit Community Greenhouse and the Iqaluit Food Centre are holding a joint workshop on vermiculture worm composting. It is taking place at the soup kitchen tonight at 7:00 PM.

The workshop is free of charge but you will need to bring two large plastic bins as well as any newspaper that you can spare.

Hope to see you all there!

Have you noticed we’re running trivia nights on a biweekly basis? Check our trivia gang out. They put in tonnes of work to get a great night for you to take part in. Thanks for coming out to support us and hope to see you this Tuesday!

Get your thinking caps on, because the Iqaluit Community Greenhouse Society will be hosting its Trivia Night on Tuesday, June 28 at 7:30 at the Storehouse Bar & Grill. Come out for good food and have a good time supporting a good cause. See you next week!

We’d like to send a huge thank you and shout out to the staff and management of the Kickin’ Caribou pub. We are so grateful for their support and assistance revolving around our trivia nights for the past couple years. We always had a lot of fun and are so appreciative that you helped the ICGS in such a generous way.

Our Annual General Meeting was held on Saturday, and we have elected a new Board of Directors. Thank you to everyone who came out and participated. This society exists because of dedicated volunteers and we are pleased to see so many willing to help.

We will be updating our Board information following our first official meeting of the Directors.

Interested in what was discussed at the AGM? Have a look at Thomas Rohner’s feature in Nunatsiaq News. (One minor correction: trivia will be held on May 17, not May 10.)

Speaking of trivia…we’re switching venues to the Storehouse Bar & Grill. We’ll be starting at 7 PM and suggest a minimum donation of $5 to play. Come on out for Taco Tuesday on May 17th and test your knowledge of stuff!
