Come out Monday from 1 pm to 4 pm to see what’s happening in the greenhouse! Ask questions about our new greenhouse technologies and learn about some of the produce we’re growing. See you there!

Things have been really busy the Greenhouse lately:

  • We had a transplanting party with High School students and now have lots of little kale seedlings on the go;

  • As part of a partnership with Inuksuk High School, we moved in hydroponic grow towers that we will be using over the summer and;

  • We are tidying up and making things look presentable for the upcoming Royal Visit.

Come by Saturday June 24 between 1 and 4 to check out these and other projects and lend a hand with painting, transplanting, and seeding.

Unnusakkut! This is your reminder to join the Iqaluit Community Greenhouse Society in some spring cleaning at the Greenhouse from 1 – 4 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday, June 3rd! We will be lifting heavy things, organizing and doing some fixing up of our grounds, so be sure to come with motivation, a water bottle and a snack!

Last year, the Greenhouse had to re-do the foundation of the building and so we have lots of work to do this year in order to get ready for thisΒ growing season and the coming months of exciting programs! Please join us in this effort!

Free wood! Please come by the Greenhouse (back parking lot of Nunavut Research Institute) to pick up free wood. Please only take wood that is piled up on the right side door of the Greenhouse – anything closest to the road, by the side-door stairs.

Having a bon-fire? Building a summer cabin? We need it gone by Saturday, May 3rd! Help us out with our spring cleaning!

We’re nearly a month away from the holiday season, and Iqaluit is buzzing with excitement. This is the time of year when crafters are busily preparing their wares, and making preserves and baking are popular activities. The Iqaluit Greenhouse was so excited about our Thanksgiving Harvest sale, that we decided to do it all over again.

Come out to the greenhouse on Saturday, November 26 from 11 am to 2 pm to check out some tasty treats and fabulous crafts. You never know what you might find.

We remind everyone to dress for the weather. The greenhouse is not heated, so bundle up!

Even though the snow is falling, and the days are getting shorter, there are still plenty of ‘green’ things to do in town.

This Saturday from 11-1, we will be having a BONUS work party at the greenhouse, to get a few more things done before the winter really hits us. Come in your grubbies, and help out!

From there, we’ll walk on down to the Iqaluit Food Centre for a composting workshop from 2-4pm, hosted by Lynn Peplinski, bokashi composter extraordinaire. This free workshop will teach about the basics of bokashi, and show how you can makeΒ odour-free, worm-free compost in your own home.
