…and you’re invited!

Come out on Saturday, May 10 at 11 AM to the Nunavut Research Institute boardroom.  Let’s review last year and talk about the future.  Join the ICGS as a member, or even as a board member.  We have plenty of ideas and want to hear yours, too.

Let’s make 2014 our best year ever!

The Iqaluit Community Greenhouse Society is looking for your input.  If you were a gardener during the 2013 growing season or were involved in Greenhouse events, please let us know about your experience.  All answers are anonymous.

Fill out the survey here.

The survey will be open until January 31, 2014.

We are looking forward to continuing the momentum that began last year.  Thank you in advance for your input.

We’re looking for a few green thumbs. Interested in growing more than just vegetables this year? Help us grow our Society.

To nominate yourself or someone else as a Director on our Board, please download the nomination form and fill it out. You can scan and e-mail it to us at iqaluitgreenhouse@yahoo.ca with the appropriate signatures, or bring it to our upcoming meeting.

It’s our Annual General Meeting this Saturday! We will be sharing the results of our 2013 survey, which will be closing on Friday, May 10 at noon. Please give us your opinions.

Be sure to attend. We will be discussing this season’s plans for growing and talking about how you can get involved.

The Iqaluit Community Greenhouse Society Board is actively seeking donations from the public, government services and corporations. In order to fund the many needs of the Society, we have applied to several sources for support. We are pleased to announce that our hard work has come to some fruition (pun intended!).

The Qulliq Power Corporation was approached and responded with a generous contribution!  This is a grant and will certainly go some distance in recharging our much depleted bank account.  We are very grateful for their support.

Are you a member of the Society or just want to help?  It’s easy!  If you are aware of a corporation or individual that can help us out with our yearly funding needs, please send any information you have to us and we will formally approach them for sponsorship.

Thanks Qulliq!  Spring is here and growing will start shortly in the greenhouse.  We have new compost, so the 2013 year will be a very green one.  Thanks also go to NorthMart for a discount on the transport and purchase of the compost.  We are indeed a community!

Save the date – the Iqaluit Community Greenhouse Society will be holding its Annual General Meeting from 11 AM to 1 PM on Saturday, May 11 in the boardroom at the Nunavut Research Institute.

Come out to hear more about membership, nominate yourself or someone you know to our Board and find out the results of our 2013 survey.

Hope to see you there…

Have you been a member of the Iqaluit Greenhouse in either 2011 or 2012? Are you interested in gardening with us in 2013?

Please help us out and give us your opinions! Visit our survey and let us know how you would like to grow in 2013.

We will be presenting the results at the upcoming AGM in May. Stay tuned for details…

With our AGM a couple days behind us, the 2012 growing season is right around the corner.  Our Board of Directors for this year is energized and ready for the coming year.

Board of Director Changes

We are sad to see two of our former Directors stepping down from their positions for this year.  Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication to our Secretary Tuutalik Boychuck and Rob Long, Director at Large and instrumental in our Operations for several years.  Both plan to remain part of the ICGS as gardeners.  Earlier this year, we also said goodbye to President Dilek Dee Karadag as she set off overseas for a six month adventure and stepped down from her Board duties.  Best of luck in your journeys Dilek!

The membership has voted in five new Directors to the Board.  Please join us in welcoming Francois Charest, Tamara Fast, Stephen Leyden, Robin Pitsiladis and Kelly Townson.  We look forward to the energy you will bring to the ICGS.

Board of Director information and positions will be posted online after our next Board meeting.

You can now access membership information online.  Please visit the Become a Member page for membership forms and loads of information to get you prepared for growing this year!
