Happy Organic Week from Iqaluit!

The Iqaluit Community Greenhouse Society, in partnership with the Iqaluit Food Centre and the Iqaluit Youth Centre, co-hosted an organic food night at the Youth Centre. With youth, staff, and volunteers, we cooked a delicious meal that had local, and organic ingredients. On the menu: caribou stir-fry with greens grown at the Youth Centre, and homemade sprouts, and fresh fruit fondue with fruit local to Ontario and Quebec. This dinner was super fun because we all got to cook together. We also tried new produce, like kale and ground cherries. Check out the photo menu of our night!

The Iqaluit Community Greenhouse and the Iqaluit Food Centre are holding a joint workshop on vermiculture worm composting. It is taking place at the soup kitchen tonight at 7:00 PM.

The workshop is free of charge but you will need to bring two large plastic bins as well as any newspaper that you can spare.
