It’s time for another work party! Hope to see you tonight at 5:30 to see what’s available to harvest…

Don’t forget…there will be a regularly scheduled work party and harvest Thursday starting at 5:30 PM. The greenhouse is full of leafy greens that are ready to be taken home!

Now that the greenhouse has been planted, we have set up our regular rotation of work parties and potential harvest events every eight days.  You can see the next upcoming event in the side bar to the right of the main page of this site.

Upcoming events can be found in the right side bar of the main page.

Alternately, you can also access the Iqaluit Community Greenhouse Society’s Google Calendar to keep up with everything that’s happening, including our regularly scheduled work parties.

It’s going to be an exciting and fun-filled greenhouse weekend!

Saturday, June 14 – come out to the greenhouse between 11 AM and 1 PM.  Let’s get the season started.  We have soil. We have water. And now, we have seeds. We’re ready to get things moving and will be planting until we can’t plant anymore. Still not a member? Sign up online right now!

Sunday, June 15 – still need a gift for your father that will be useful and help a local organization? We are holding a car wash and barbecue fundraiser at the fire hall between 10 AM and 2 PM. Our first attempt at a car wash this year was postponed due to low temperatures, so get on your dancing shoes and start your anti-rain dance for the day.

We still need volunteers for the car wash and barbecue.  Can you help? Sign up here! Every minute you can help counts.

Come help us put the greenhouse to rest for the winter.  It’s been a great season and we want to thank all the awesome members for their enthusiasm, great ideas, and hard work.

This Saturday from 11 AM – 1 PM, we will be meeting for our last clean-up, harvest, and FREE barbecue!  We will be serving potato salad made with our very own potatoes!  See you at 11!

Just a reminder that Monday, September 16 at 5:30 is a scheduled work party and potential harvest.  Based on the weather, it will likely be one of our final harvests.  Please come out if you can make it.

Keep your eyes and ears open regarding our end of season activities.  Info is coming soon!

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we will be postponing the bake sale and barbecue scheduled for Saturday until Sunday, September 8 (tentative).  We apologize for any inconvenience.  If you have already baked items to donate and would still like to donate them, we are looking at the option of donating via the Iqaluit Sell/Swap Facebook group.

Please be advised that the work party/harvest is still scheduled for Saturday, but it will occur at 12 PM.

We’re looking for a few good bakers.  This Saturday, August 31 from 11 AM to 1 PM, the ICGS will be holding an end of the season bake sale and barbecue.  If you can donate some baked goods to the cause, please arrive by 10:30 AM so that we may price your items for sale.

This will coincide with a work party/harvest.  If you are in Iqaluit and haven’t seen the greenhouse before, come on down and check us out!  We’ll be harvesting potatoes, lettuce, spinach, kale, daikon radish and more.  Come and see how we grow food in the arctic.

For now, check out our August 23rd harvest pictures!

If you happen to have any lettuce or spinach seeds and would like to donate it, please bring it tonight.  We’ve used up our supply for the year!

Don’t forget…it’s a regularly scheduled work party this evening starting at 5:30.  We’ve got some weeding to do and we’ll take a look at what kind of work needs to be done outside to ensure the greenhouse looks great.

Keep your eyes and ears open for information regarding our upcoming bake sale and barbecue scheduled for Saturday, August 31.  It coincides with a work party, so come on out and support the ICGS.

See you tonight!

Don’t forget about the regularly scheduled work party/harvest scheduled for Thursday, August 15 at 5:30 PM.

You never know what might be ready for harvest!

Hope to see you there…
